Weeping Rose Showcase

Kraft-y Christmas

Welcome to another Digi Choosday challenge, Today I have a fab giveaway, but first to this weeks challenge.

As usual it an ANYTHING GOES challenge, but the team were challenged to use Kraft for a festive make.

I chose to use Kraft card as the background and started by splatting with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolour paint in pearl white to create a snowfall effect.

I roughly tore some pearlescent paper and edged with glitter to create a snowy ground.

Then using my Silhouette I cut out the cute Reindeer from Festive Christmas and pine trees from Work & Play 5 Festive Holkybobs, I then coloured these with Copics.

I added some homemade gesture paste to the trees and sprinkled with glitter.

Finally I layered on to one of the design papers from Octavia Frosted Winter and stamped a sentiment with Versafine Ink.

Don't forget to pop over to the Challenge Blog for todays discount code and of course see all the other fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Team.

Next week I will be back with a make using images from the stunning Winnie Winterland

Happy 3rd Birthday Digi Choosday

We are celebrating 3 YEARS of Polka Doodles DIGI CHOOSDAY , so this week we are all about Birthday Cards.

The challenge for you guys is still ANYTHING GOES and we would love to see as many of you as possible to celebrate our 3rd Birthday.  To help out there will of course by a lovely discount code over on the Digi Choosday Challenge Blog.

I have used a mix of Polka Doodles goodies to create my accordion fold card this week.

The doves are from the new Festive Christmas Collection and I have used two of the new dies, which are a dream to cut.

The remainder of the elements (card base, birch trees and bird cage) are all from the Silhouette Store and cut with my Cameo using card stock from The Paper Mill.
Aren't these die cuts just beautiful, I just love the tiny leaves.

We are also in the midst of a month long celebration of World Card Making month at Polka Doodles, with fun, games and competitions.

Mask of Leaves

It's Showcase time and of course Mitzi has given us another fabulous image to showcase, she is called 'Mask of Leaves', such a beautiful Autumn image, but she would work equally well in spring or Winter.

I decided to have another go at a mixed media canvas, this time using an A4 sized hard board canvas.

After watching many many Youtube tutorials, I decided to use scrunched up tissue paper for the texture and then paint to look like Autumn leaves.

I painted over the dried base  with Gesso and once that was dry, with Kuretake Gamsai Tambi Watercolours and also some mica powder.  Once this was dry I rubbed over the bumps with some Gold gilding wax - so far so good.

Then it got tricky, adding the embellishments, firstly I had trouble getting the glue to hold and the idea was to paint with Gesso, then add the water colours again as before, but it just ended up as a bit of a mess.  I decided to leave it overnight and then re-visit.

The next day, I just kept adding more colour, but it wasn't really getting much better, so I stopped and added some lettering cut on my Cameo and once I stood back, I thought it actually didn't look too bad and I think overall I have captured the Autumn Colours (At least I hope I have - lol)

The gorgeous image was coloured with Copics, it is about A5 size and thankfully I am really happy with how that went.

I definitely think I will give it another try, after watching a few more tutorials!!

Please do visit us at the Aurora Wings Showcase to see the amazing work by my Team Mates.

Trick or Treat

Good Morning my Polka Doodle friends and a Happy Choosday to you.

It's  Digi Choosday which can only mean one thing

So don't forget to pop over to the Digi Choosday blog to grab the code and of course check out the gorgeous makes by the rest of the team.

The challenge for you is of course ANYTHING GOES, but for the team this week the challenge was Halloween or dark!!

Straight away I knew I wanted to decorate a candy bag for my little man to use on Halloween, we have never taken him Trick or Treating but he really wants to go, so I will talk Hubby into taking him (not really my thing!!)

I have used Polka Doodles Spooky Mummy, which obviously did not need much colouring but I have added some shadow and depth to the bandages with various Grey Copics.

I already had several of these little orange bags left over from a craft fair I did, so I cut a spiders web and big eyed spider from Black paper using my Cameo and Voila!

Then I saw a fab sentiment in the Silhouette store so added this to the reverse.

I look forward to seeing all your lovely makes this week and as always you can find all things Polka Doodles with the following links

Seahorse Wishes

These Tuesdays come around so fast, but the good thing is that means it's DIGI CHOOSDAY.

My Teamies and I have been creating with the theme of 2 images or more, but as always for you guys it is ANYTHING GOES, don't forget to head over to the Challenge Blog to grab todays discount code, remember it's for a limited time only.

I have merged 2 images from the Meribelle Mermaid Big Kahuna collection, I wanted to do one last summer card, before Halloween and Christmas fully take over.

I kept the layout nice and simple to show the beautiful little mermaids and their seahorse friend.

The sentiment is from the Silhouette store and the wave die is Memory Box.

I used Copics and a little Lyra pencil for the details, also Gold and metallic blue gel pens to colour my image then edged with Stormy blue distress ink.

The background paper is spritzed with various ink sprays and perfect pearls.

Finished with a few bubble dew drops.

Crimson Wings

It's time for a new challenge over at Aurora Wings, with Halloween fast approaching our theme is BLACK, ORANGE & ONE OTHER COLOUR.

Halloween is still not that big in the UK, so I decided to use a non-Halloween image, but with the Halloween colour palette adding RED as my extra colour.

I have wanted to colour this image for a while, but admit to being a little intimidated, it is the stunning Crimson wings.

I used mostly Copics to colour this beauty but also added a little more detail using Prisma Pencils.

I had a bit of a disaster with the background, it was all meant to merge together, but it didn't work how I pictured it, never mind, I am still happy with the overall outcome.

I matted onto black and orange yardstick and added a few flowers and crystals, to keep the image as the main focus.

I look forward to visiting you all, to see your interpretations of this theme.
