Butterfly Sprite

Today we have a new Showcase at Aurora Wings, it is a lovely new sprite - Butterfly Sprite.

She comes in two different versions - Fancy wings and Simple Wings.

For my card today, I have used Fancy wings.

I printed her onto watercolor paper and added some flowers stamps by Polka Doodles, I then masked off the sprite and used a smooshing technique with Tambai Gansai watercolors for the background in a mix of reds, oranges and yellows and a little bit of gold.

once it was dry I sprayed with Perfect Pearls for a lovely iridescent finish.

When it came to coloring my sprite, I used Copics for the skin and petals, then decided to try painting the wings with some mica powders I have had for ages but never used.

Finally I matted onto brown and cream card and a lovely designer paper, adding a little dandelion and hand tied bow.

Mirror Mirror

It's time for a new challenge at Digi Choosday and theme this week is 'Add some Bling', so get out our glitter and gems and come join in the fun.

This week I have made a card using images from the Winnie in Wonderland collection.

I started by printing and cutting out the mirror frame and coloured with a base layer of silver mica powder, then used my copics for some shading.  I added some mirror card behind and some gems to decorate.

I used a rose embossing folder for the background and added my mirror and coloured image (Copics again).

To further embellish I made some clay roses and also painted these with some blue mica powder and finished with a hand tied grey organza bow.

Rainbow Mermaid

I have been off work for the last 2 weeks recovering from a knee operation, great I thought, plenty of time to colour and craft - Yay.

The reality has been me sitting on a sofa, iPad in hand cruising Facebook or watching box sets on Netflix, planning all the crafty things I can do, but not actually doing them.

Yesterday I saw one of my DT team mates had completed her latest Kit & Clowder monthly create and learn classes and I had yet to start the previous months, perhaps I was a bit intimidated by the wondrous image and what looked to be a colouring journey of epic proportions?

Anyway, yesterday and today I buckled down and I am so glad that I did, YES is was epic and challenging, but also great fun and extremely satisfying to have completed it, I am so in love with the northern lights background.

So here is Mermaids by Janna Fairy Art - following the Rainbow Mermaid tutorial by Kit & Clowder, coloured with Copics and a few Promarkers.

So thank you Helen Haines for the nudge and Alyce Keegan for another awesome class.

Daisy Days

I have had so much fun playing with the new Daisy Day stamps from Polka Doodles.

Nikki has made it so easy to create a beautiful card in a short space of time, all you need is some card, versafine ink and watercolours, spray ink or distress inks.

For my card I used Kuratake Gansai Tambi watercolors and Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

I used a technique I saw Nikky Hall use on a recent Facebook Video HERE.

Once the colour was dry I misted over with Perfect Pearls for a nice shimmer, then stamped my Daisys.  I cut the image into 3 equal portions and mounted onto black card.

To finish I added a LOTV sentiment and hand tied bow and some goosebumps gems.

Double Trouble

Hi Everyone we have a new challenge for you today over at Polka Doodles Digi Choosday and it that you need to do is 'Add some Ribbon' - that leaves it wide open for interpretation.

Don't forget the discount code that is available on Digi Choosday.

I have been sitting on this card for a couple of weeks as I knew I would be out of action after my knee surgery this week, it is an image from the new Winnie in Wonderland collection which is jam packed with goodies and the most beautiful papers, they are just stunning.

The image is 'Tweedledum', which really jumped out to me, as did the lush red and turquoise paper I have used from the collection.  This set my colour scheme nicely.

I have coloured the images with Copics

I used some card embellies from the collection and then added my own two tone hearts and a hand tied double ribbon to fit my colour scheme.

We look forward to seeing all your amazing creations over on the challenge blog.

Karate Kid

The new challenge this week at Polka Doodles  Digi Choosey is all about the men in your life, be it father, Son, Husband or just a friend, we want to see a project 'For a Male'.

For my DT inspiration this week I have made a Well done/Congratulations card for my 6 year old son 'Dexter' who has recently started Karate lessons and is due to take his 2nd grading exam in a couple of weeks.

I have used Karate Boy from Work & Play 7.

I started by Coloring up his Karate Belt to match the colour belt that will be awarded if he passes with Copics and matting onto a yellow background.

Then I found a Karate belt in the Silhouette Store and also cut that in yellow and white.

I wasn't sure how to incorporate it into the card, but after a little experimenting, I created a Karate Jacket with a white card Blank.

To finish I added a vinyl sentiment, also from the Silhouette Store.

Fingers crossed he passes!

Summertime

These last couple of days I have playing with the new Polka Doodles Summer Stamp Me CD & Stamps.  There are two sets - Summertime & Daisy Days

If you haven't seen them yet, Nikky has created a fab system of stamping 'Made Easy', the CD is full of some fab underlays to help you create a picture along with all the lovely papers etc associated with Polka Doodles CD's.

So, after a little play around, I've not stamped in sooooo long, I created a really simple card, by spritzing some ink onto watercolour paper,.

Once it was dry I stamped with Versafine Onyx ink, using the Summertime Stamps.

To finish I gave it another spritz with perfect pearls for a lovely shimmer effect.

I matted onto pink card, added a bow and sentiment and voila, it couldn't be any easier.

Thanks for visiting :)

Sentimental

Morning, it's Polka Doodles Digi Choosday and the theme this week is 'Add a Sentiment'.

I have one of the cute images from the Winnie Fruit Punch Collection, called 'One for you'.

I saw a card using a skirt pleat, so decided to find a tutorial, but they all ended up really narrow and I wanted one to go across an 8 x 8 card.

So I took a double sided  8 x 8 Designer paper, cut it in half and taped it length ways to create a 16 x 4 length of paper, then I scored at 2" then  1" and keep repeating until all the paper was scored.  then it was just a case of folding on the score line.

I coloured up my Winnie with topics and matted onto pink and blue card.  I used a LOTV sentiment and some leaves and flowers from my stash (mainly WOC).

We would love to see you over at the challenge blog, where there are lots of gorgeous projects by my team mates.

A Touch of Class

It's time for a new Challenge at Aurora Wings, hosted by team Stella.

Our theme this fortnight is 'A Touch of Class'.

I have recently enrolled in the Kit & Clowder nature class and thought I would attempt to colour my favorite flowers Orchids, I have a row of pots on my kitchen window sil and think they are so beautiful, hopefully I have done them justice.

The image I have used is Orchid Corner.

I started by colouring the Flowers with Copics, I probably should of done the background first, but I had no Idea, where I was going  with this card.

I then used my ink dusters to go around the edge in Pink and Lettuce green, it looked a little too CAS for me, so I found an old swirl stamp and stamped the four corners and also added the sentiment, which is a clear stamp by Inkylicious

Finally I matted onto Cream and Pink card.

We would love to see you join us for out latest challenge HERE
