Crafty Cardmakers - Monochromatic Purple

The latest challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers is hosted by Fiona, who has chosen the theme of Purple.

As purple is Fiona's favourite colour, she would like to see cards/projects that are all or mostly purple. Hair/skin colours are also allowed.

Please ensure that your creation is only in shades of purple plus hair and skin colours in order to qualify for the winner or top 5 slot.

For this project I decided to try something a little different.

For a while now I have wanted to make a door hanger, but I wasn't really sure which paints to use, so after a little research I found a great tutorial on YOU TUBE, which showed how to do a crackle paint effect on a door hanger.

It was so simple and quick to do and I really want to make some more as xmas gifts.

I used Silver and purple acrylic paint to create the crackle base then brushed over some Adirondack ink in Eggplant and a little mica powder to give some areas of shine.

I then used versafine ink to stamp the fairies, stars and wording and a added a little Stickles to make it sparkle.

I cut a spellbinders butterfly and a tattered lace corner and brushed them with some ink and a little mica powder

I finished off by adding a bow, flowers and a couple of gems.

I am really happy for a first attempt and can't wait to give it another go maybe adding a digi!

Don't forget to check out my teamies blogs for some other fab projects.

Thanks for looking

Shabby Chic

Our latest challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers is hosted by BettyC, who has chosen the theme 'Shabby Chic'

BettyC would like to see any creation, scrapbook page, altered art, card that is 'shabby chic'.
This is another first for me, once again the internet provided a lot of help, but I am still not entirely sure I have captured Shabby Chic, I think maybe my image is not quite "Shabby Chic", but I did enjoy playing with all the different layers.

I gather the many distressed layers are all part of Shabby Chic, so I picked the papers and colour scheme first, which is something I usually do after I have coloured my image, I think I may change my ways, it was much easier this way.

The papers are First Edition 'Summer Breeze', which I Distressed with a Tim Holtz tool and some Distress Ink.

The image is by LOTV and is coloured with a mix of Flexmarkers, Promarkers and Copics.  I cut the image out with a Spellbinders die and added to my layers along with a memory box swirl.

All the embellies are from my stash: - Shells, Flowers, Pearls, lace and a little bronze starfish.
